Dates, times, durations, repeats, and lists are understood as you write, with a live preview before you add. On Mac, use the bar at the top of the window; on iPhone, tap +. A #tag picks the calendar or list by name.
Two things to check. First, Next needs Calendar and Reminders permission — grant it under System Settings → Privacy & Security on Mac, or Settings → Privacy & Security on iPhone. Second, each calendar and reminder list can be shown or hidden inside Next under Settings → Calendars.
Yes — open Settings → Help → Replay the welcome tour. It walks through choosing your calendars and lists, plus the notification and appearance settings.
Turn them on under Settings → Notifications (you can limit them to events, tasks, or both). Timed items alert at their start or due time; all-day items alert at 9 AM on their day. On iPhone and iPad they fire even when Next is closed. On Mac, closing the window (⌘W) keeps Next running quietly in the Dock, so notifications keep coming — quitting entirely (⌘Q) stops them.
Yes — open the event and add up to two reminders (say, 15 minutes and 1 day before). These are delivered by Next on the device where you set them.
Yes. Next reads and writes the same Calendar and Reminders accounts on both (iCloud, Google, Outlook — whatever you've set up), so they stay in step through those accounts with no extra setup.
A change made on one device can take a few minutes to appear on another — that timing belongs to the account's own sync schedule. For Google calendars on iPhone, check Settings → Apps → Calendar → Fetch New Data: "Fetch every 15 minutes" keeps things moving; "Manual" waits until you open the Calendar app.
Entirely on your device, in the system Calendar and Reminders. Next has no servers and no account system — the only network request it makes is Apple Maps address lookup when you type a location. Read the full privacy policy.
Under Settings → Calendars, tap the color swatches on any calendar or list row. The override applies everywhere in Next; the source calendar keeps its own color in other apps.
Settings → General has Light / Dark / System themes, accent colors, the week's start day, and which view opens by default (Agenda, Week/3-Day, Month, or Tasks).
